# Private File vs Extender

The clearest difference is update cadence: Private File at every 2 weeks against Extender's every 8 months. Private File also leads on iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Private File sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Extender sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Private File ships an update every 2 weeks, Extender every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
