# Dropshare vs Excerpt

Dropshare and Excerpt both sit at 4.1 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Excerpt's written reviews are positive against 55% of Dropshare's. Excerpt also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5). Dropshare's advantage is ratings volume (65 vs 1) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dropshare sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Excerpt asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.1 for Dropshare against 4.0 for Excerpt. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dropshare has 65 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 55% of Dropshare's written reviews are positive against 100% of Excerpt's.

Dropshare ships an update monthly, Excerpt every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
