# Toolbox vs Smart Tools

The clearest difference is update cadence: Toolbox at every 2 weeks against Smart Tools's every 3 months. Toolbox also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 322) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). Smart Tools's advantage is review sentiment (78% vs 63%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Toolbox sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Smart Tools sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Toolbox against 4.5 for Smart Tools. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Toolbox has 14K ratings behind it against 322, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of Toolbox's written reviews are positive against 78% of Smart Tools's.

Toolbox ships an update every 2 weeks, Smart Tools every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
