# JioHotstar vs TarangPlus

The clearest difference is rating: JioHotstar at 4.6 against TarangPlus's 2.5. JioHotstar also leads on ratings volume (102K vs 6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). TarangPlus's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. JioHotstar sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per 3 months and TarangPlus sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $24.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

JioHotstar holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JioHotstar has 102K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of JioHotstar's written reviews are positive against 20% of TarangPlus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

JioHotstar ships an update fortnightly, TarangPlus monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
