# Read&Write vs Edsby Capture

The clearest difference is rating: Edsby Capture at 5.0 against Read&Write's 3.1. Edsby Capture also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). Read&Write's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 11 months) and ratings volume (29 vs 2). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Read&Write sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Edsby Capture asks for nothing beyond the download.

Edsby Capture holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Read&Write has 29 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Read&Write's written reviews are positive against 13% of Edsby Capture's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Read&Write ships an update monthly, Edsby Capture every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
