# GreatPetCare vs Barktopia

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GreatPetCare at 33% against Barktopia's 0%. GreatPetCare also leads on ratings volume (2.2K vs 24) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Barktopia's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Barktopia holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GreatPetCare has 2.2K ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of GreatPetCare's written reviews are positive against 0% of Barktopia's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GreatPetCare ships an update fortnightly, Barktopia every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
