# Disconnect Premium VPN vs Shellfire VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Disconnect Premium VPN at 4.3 against Shellfire VPN's 3.1. Disconnect Premium VPN also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (194 vs 14). Shellfire VPN's advantage is review sentiment (58% vs 44%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Disconnect Premium VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Shellfire VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $10.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Disconnect Premium VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Disconnect Premium VPN has 194 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Disconnect Premium VPN's written reviews are positive against 58% of Shellfire VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Disconnect Premium VPN ships an update every 2 months, Shellfire VPN every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
