# BComposer Scales vs Music Notes

The clearest difference is rating: Music Notes at 4.8 against BComposer Scales's 3.0. Music Notes also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (17 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BComposer Scales sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Music Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Music Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Music Notes has 17 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

BComposer Scales ships an update every 5 months, Music Notes every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
