# Drops vs RuneKeys

The clearest difference is price: Drops at Free against RuneKeys's $3.99. Drops also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). RuneKeys's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 13) and ads (none vs shown). On review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Drops is free to download; RuneKeys costs $3.99 up front. Drops sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. RuneKeys asks for nothing beyond the download.

Drops holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Drops has 72K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Drops's written reviews are positive against 79% of RuneKeys's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Drops ships an update weekly, RuneKeys every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
