# Topo Reader vs 3D Mappa

The clearest difference is monetization model: 3D Mappa at free with in-app purchases against Topo Reader's subscription. Topo Reader's advantage is ratings volume (181 vs 18). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Topo Reader sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and 3D Mappa sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $8.00 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Topo Reader against 4.6 for 3D Mappa. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Topo Reader has 181 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 50% and 50% positive.

Topo Reader ships an update every 3 months, 3D Mappa every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
