# Hover vs SmartPlank

The clearest difference is rating: SmartPlank at 5.0 against Hover's 4.4. SmartPlank also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Hover's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (3.1K vs 2). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SmartPlank holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hover has 3.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hover ships an update every 8 days, SmartPlank every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
