# Privates! vs Messenger VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Messenger VPN at 4.5 against Privates!'s 2.1. Messenger VPN also leads on ratings volume (3.6K vs 29). Privates!'s advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Messenger VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Privates! asks for nothing beyond the download.

Messenger VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messenger VPN has 3.6K ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Privates!'s written reviews are positive against 32% of Messenger VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Privates! ships an update monthly, Messenger VPN every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
