# edX online learning vs Scribd

The clearest difference is review sentiment: edX online learning at 82% against Scribd's 14%. edX online learning also leads on rating (4.8 vs 2.8) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Scribd's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and chart position (#142 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. edX online learning sells 42 one-off in-app purchases and Scribd sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

edX online learning holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: edX online learning has 11K ratings behind it against 275, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 82% of edX online learning's written reviews are positive against 14% of Scribd's.

edX online learning ships an update every 5 weeks, Scribd fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
