# Flow Speed Control vs Player Gear

The clearest difference is ads: Flow Speed Control at none against Player Gear's shown. Flow Speed Control also leads on review sentiment (78% vs 49%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks). Player Gear's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flow Speed Control sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Player Gear sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Flow Speed Control against 4.6 for Player Gear. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flow Speed Control has 1.1K ratings behind it against 76, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 78% of Flow Speed Control's written reviews are positive against 49% of Player Gear's.

Flow Speed Control ships an update every 3 days, Player Gear every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
