# Back vs Desana

The clearest difference is rating: Back at 2.4 against Desana's 2.0. Back also leads on ratings volume (127 vs 3). Desana's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 13%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Back holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Back has 127 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of Back's written reviews are positive against 40% of Desana's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Back ships an update every 3 weeks, Desana monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
