The clearest difference is rating: 澎湃新闻HD at 4.6 against 北京日报's 2.8. HD also leads on ratings volume (82 vs 9). 北京日报's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. 澎湃新闻HD sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. 北京日报 asks for nothing beyond the download.

HD holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 澎湃新闻HD has 82 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of 北京日报's written reviews are positive against 29% of 澎湃新闻HD's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HD every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
