# Polarsteps vs TrekPins

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Polarsteps at 10K against TrekPins's 6. Polarsteps also leads on chart position (#67 vs unranked). TrekPins's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 90%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Polarsteps sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and TrekPins sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Polarsteps against 5.0 for TrekPins. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Polarsteps has 10K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Polarsteps's written reviews are positive against 100% of TrekPins's.

Polarsteps ships an update every 4 days, TrekPins every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
