# Polarsteps vs Metro Mapper

The clearest difference is rating: Polarsteps at 4.9 against Metro Mapper's 1.0. Polarsteps also leads on ratings volume (9.8K vs 1) and update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Polarsteps sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Metro Mapper sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Polarsteps holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Polarsteps has 9.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Polarsteps's written reviews are positive against 95% of Metro Mapper's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Polarsteps ships an update every 4 days, Metro Mapper fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
