# Possession Basic vs SFRef Soccer Referee Watch

The clearest difference is rating: Possession Basic at 5.0 against SFRef Soccer Referee Watch's 4.4. Possession Basic also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). SFRef Soccer Referee Watch's advantage is ratings volume (160 vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Possession Basic sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and SFRef Soccer Referee Watch sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Possession Basic holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SFRef Soccer Referee Watch has 160 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Possession Basic's written reviews are positive against 59% of SFRef Soccer Referee Watch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Possession Basic ships an update every 3 months, SFRef Soccer Referee Watch every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
