# MarkText vs Today Snippet Widget

The clearest difference is rating: Today Snippet Widget at 3.9 against MarkText's 3.0. Today Snippet Widget also leads on ratings volume (102 vs 3) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). MarkText's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 45%) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.6). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

MarkText costs $3.99 and Today Snippet Widget $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Today Snippet Widget holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Today Snippet Widget has 102 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of MarkText's written reviews are positive against 45% of Today Snippet Widget's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MarkText ships an update every 4 months, Today Snippet Widget monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
