# MarkText vs Markdown゜

The clearest difference is price: Markdown゜ at Free against MarkText's $3.99. Markdown゜ also leads on rating (4.5 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (473 vs 3). MarkText's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 31%). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Markdown゜ is free to download; MarkText costs $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Markdown゜ holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Markdown゜ has 473 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of MarkText's written reviews are positive against 31% of Markdown゜'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MarkText ships an update every 4 months, Markdown゜ every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
