# HopSkipDrive vs Empower Driver

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Empower Driver at 61% against HopSkipDrive's 43%. Empower Driver also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and chart position (#125 vs unranked). HopSkipDrive's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (9.9K vs 2.8K). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HopSkipDrive holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9.9K and 2.8K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of HopSkipDrive's written reviews are positive against 61% of Empower Driver's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
