# Carista OBD2 vs VAG Coding

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: VAG Coding at none against Carista OBD2's 14. VAG Coding also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Carista OBD2's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (4.1K vs 5). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Carista OBD2 sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. VAG Coding asks for nothing beyond the download.

Carista OBD2 holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Carista OBD2 has 4.1K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 34% and 33% positive.
