# Nova Safe vs Speed Queen

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Queen at 4.8 against Nova Safe's 3.5. Speed Queen also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (21K vs 6). Nova Safe's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and review sentiment (50% vs 40%). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Speed Queen holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Queen has 21K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Nova Safe's written reviews are positive against 40% of Speed Queen's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Nova Safe ships an update every 5 months, Speed Queen every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
