# Interval Timer vs Timeline

Interval Timer and Timeline both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Timeline's written reviews are positive against 21% of Interval Timer's. Timeline also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 26.0). Interval Timer's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (534 vs 9). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Timeline sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Interval Timer against 4.6 for Timeline. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 534 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 21% of Interval Timer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Timeline's.

Interval Timer ships an update every 3 months, Timeline every 22 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
