# U_L vs Amber iX

The clearest difference is rating: Amber iX at 3.4 against U_L's 1.0. Amber iX also leads on ratings volume (27 vs 1). U_L's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Amber iX holds the better App Store score, 3.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Amber iX has 27 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of U_L's written reviews are positive against 22% of Amber iX's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

U_L ships an update monthly, Amber iX every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
