# SQUIRE™ vs Square Go

SQUIRE™ and Square Go both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 84% of Square Go's written reviews are positive against 40% of SQUIRE™'s. Square Go also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for SQUIRE™ against 4.9 for Square Go. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square Go has 128K ratings behind it against 12K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 40% of SQUIRE™'s written reviews are positive against 84% of Square Go's.

SQUIRE™ ships an update every 5 weeks, Square Go fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
