# FlyVPN vs ShadowShare

The clearest difference is monetization model: ShadowShare at free with in-app purchases against FlyVPN's subscription. ShadowShare also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5). FlyVPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 367). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FlyVPN sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and ShadowShare sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ShadowShare holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.4K and 367 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of FlyVPN's written reviews are positive against 60% of ShadowShare's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FlyVPN ships an update every 6 weeks, ShadowShare every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
