# Onion Browser vs Subs

The clearest difference is ads: Onion Browser at none against Subs's shown. Onion Browser also leads on device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). Subs's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Onion Browser sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Subs sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Onion Browser ships an update every 2 months, Subs fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
