# XFR vs Lapua Ballistics

The clearest difference is update cadence: Lapua Ballistics at every 5 months against XFR's every 35 months. Lapua Ballistics also leads on review sentiment (67% vs 43%). XFR's advantage is ratings volume (826 vs 10) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

XFR holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: XFR has 826 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of XFR's written reviews are positive against 67% of Lapua Ballistics's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

XFR ships an update every 35 months, Lapua Ballistics every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
