# ECOGARD Resource Guide vs AMSOIL

The clearest difference is rating: AMSOIL at 4.2 against ECOGARD Resource Guide's 2.9. AMSOIL also leads on ratings volume (263 vs 15) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

AMSOIL holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AMSOIL has 263 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of ECOGARD Resource Guide's written reviews are positive against 54% of AMSOIL's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ECOGARD Resource Guide ships an update monthly, AMSOIL fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
