# Grid Ref UTM vs GPS Coordinates & Map Tools

The clearest difference is rating: Grid Ref UTM at 4.6 against GPS Coordinates & Map Tools's 2.7. Grid Ref UTM also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (183 vs 6). GPS Coordinates & Map Tools's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 74%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 10 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Grid Ref UTM sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and GPS Coordinates & Map Tools sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Grid Ref UTM holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grid Ref UTM has 183 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 74% of Grid Ref UTM's written reviews are positive against 100% of GPS Coordinates & Map Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Grid Ref UTM ships an update every 10 months, GPS Coordinates & Map Tools every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
