# Transmission vs Notepad

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Transmission at none against Notepad's 1. Transmission also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). Notepad's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notepad sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Transmission asks for nothing beyond the download.

Transmission ships an update every 3 months, Notepad every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
