# Speed Trap Plus vs Ray.Radar Detector

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Trap Plus at 4.4 against Ray.Radar Detector's 3.7. Speed Trap Plus also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (497 vs 3). Ray.Radar Detector's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Trap Plus sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year and Ray.Radar Detector sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed Trap Plus holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Trap Plus has 497 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Speed Trap Plus's written reviews are positive against 38% of Ray.Radar Detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Speed Trap Plus ships an update every 6 weeks, Ray.Radar Detector fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
