# Beekeeper vs HiveBook

Beekeeper and HiveBook both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of HiveBook's written reviews are positive against 55% of Beekeeper's. HiveBook also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). Beekeeper's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (18K vs 1). On price, rating, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HiveBook sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Beekeeper asks for nothing beyond the download.

HiveBook holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Beekeeper has 18K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of Beekeeper's written reviews are positive against 100% of HiveBook's.

Beekeeper ships an update fortnightly, HiveBook every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
