# Zapmap vs Osprey

The clearest difference is rating: Osprey at 5.0 against Zapmap's 4.5. Osprey also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). Zapmap's advantage is ratings volume (96 vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zapmap sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Osprey asks for nothing beyond the download.

Osprey holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zapmap has 96 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 30% of Zapmap's written reviews are positive against 35% of Osprey's.

Zapmap ships an update fortnightly, Osprey monthly. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
