# Egg Timer Plus vs Egg Timer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Egg Timer at none against Egg Timer Plus's 3. Egg Timer also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 86%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Egg Timer Plus's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 19 months) and ratings volume (612 vs 12). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Egg Timer Plus sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Egg Timer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Egg Timer Plus holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Egg Timer Plus has 612 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Egg Timer Plus's written reviews are positive against 100% of Egg Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Egg Timer Plus ships an update every 2 months, Egg Timer every 19 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
