# Simple Dictaphone vs DroneTone

The clearest difference is update cadence: DroneTone at every 6 weeks against Simple Dictaphone's every 11 months. Simple Dictaphone's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (6.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple Dictaphone sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and DroneTone sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Simple Dictaphone ships an update every 11 months, DroneTone every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
