# Shoot Pro Camera Source vs CamX

The clearest difference is monetization model: CamX at free against Shoot Pro Camera Source's free with in-app purchases. CamX also leads on review sentiment (68% vs 53%). Shoot Pro Camera Source's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shoot Pro Camera Source sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and CamX sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shoot Pro Camera Source holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 377 and 276 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Shoot Pro Camera Source's written reviews are positive against 68% of CamX's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shoot Pro Camera Source ships an update every 6 weeks, CamX every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
