# iSmokeHog vs Hornady Reloading Guide

The clearest difference is review sentiment: iSmokeHog at 100% against Hornady Reloading Guide's 31%. iSmokeHog also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.0). Hornady Reloading Guide's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 39 months) and ratings volume (17K vs 6). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hornady Reloading Guide sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year. iSmokeHog asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hornady Reloading Guide holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hornady Reloading Guide has 17K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of iSmokeHog's written reviews are positive against 31% of Hornady Reloading Guide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iSmokeHog ships an update every 39 months, Hornady Reloading Guide every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
