# QWedge vs Barcode Keyboard

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: QWedge at none against Barcode Keyboard's 6. QWedge also leads on review sentiment (70% vs 61%) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 11.0). Barcode Keyboard's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Barcode Keyboard sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. QWedge asks for nothing beyond the download.

Barcode Keyboard holds the better App Store score, 2.8 against 2.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of QWedge's written reviews are positive against 61% of Barcode Keyboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

QWedge ships an update every 6 months, Barcode Keyboard every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
