# Diary Locked vs Journal

The clearest difference is rating: Journal at 5.0 against Diary Locked's 3.2. Diary Locked's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Journal sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Diary Locked asks for nothing beyond the download.

Journal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Diary Locked has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
