# Ocean Waves vs Hotmoon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ocean Waves at 72% against Hotmoon's 23%. Ocean Waves also leads on rating (4.7 vs 3.2) and ratings volume (2.1K vs 42). Hotmoon's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ocean Waves sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Hotmoon sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ocean Waves holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ocean Waves has 2.1K ratings behind it against 42, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 72% of Ocean Waves's written reviews are positive against 23% of Hotmoon's.

Ocean Waves ships an update every 8 days, Hotmoon fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
