# thWords OCR vs Aloha VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Aloha VPN at 55% against thWords OCR's 0%. Aloha VPN also leads on ratings volume (351 vs 2) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months). thWords OCR's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. thWords OCR sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Aloha VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

thWords OCR holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Aloha VPN has 351 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of thWords OCR's written reviews are positive against 55% of Aloha VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

thWords OCR ships an update every 3 months, Aloha VPN every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
