# CuriosityStream vs Nine41

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Nine41 at 100% against CuriosityStream's 31%. Nine41 also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). CuriosityStream's advantage is ratings volume (6.3K vs 3) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CuriosityStream sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Nine41 sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nine41 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CuriosityStream has 6.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 31% of CuriosityStream's written reviews are positive against 100% of Nine41's.
