# Scrivener vs Untitled

The clearest difference is price: Untitled at $4.99 against Scrivener's $23.99. Untitled also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 12.0). Scrivener's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and ratings volume (2.6K vs 142). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Scrivener costs $23.99 and Untitled $4.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scrivener holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scrivener has 2.6K ratings behind it against 142, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of Scrivener's written reviews are positive against 51% of Untitled's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Scrivener ships an update every 3 months, Untitled every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
