# Airplane! 2 vs Flight Simulator

The clearest difference is rating: Flight Simulator at 4.1 against Airplane! 2's 3.5. Flight Simulator also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (4.7K vs 827). Airplane! 2's advantage is review sentiment (42% vs 18%) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Airplane! 2 sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and Flight Simulator sells 12 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Flight Simulator holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flight Simulator has 4.7K ratings behind it against 827, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Airplane! 2's written reviews are positive against 18% of Flight Simulator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Airplane! 2 ships an update every 5 weeks, Flight Simulator fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
