# FTA vs Chronicling

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: FTA at none against Chronicling's 3. FTA also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and review sentiment (100% vs 79%). Chronicling's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (184 vs 10). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chronicling sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. FTA asks for nothing beyond the download.

FTA holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chronicling has 184 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of FTA's written reviews are positive against 79% of Chronicling's.

FTA ships an update every 2 months, Chronicling every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 9, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
