# Offtop vs Music Recognition

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Music Recognition at 100% against Offtop's 51%. Music Recognition also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Offtop's advantage is ratings volume (4.4K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Offtop sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Music Recognition sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Music Recognition holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Offtop has 4.4K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 51% of Offtop's written reviews are positive against 100% of Music Recognition's.

Offtop ships an update every 2 weeks, Music Recognition every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and September 15, 2026 respectively.
