# VDB vs GemX

The clearest difference is update cadence: GemX at every 3 days against VDB's monthly. GemX also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (100% vs 85%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

VDB ships an update monthly, GemX every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
